Annie Ross, Grammy-winning jazz singer and actress, dies at 89

Annie Ross, an internationally acclaimed jazz singer and actress, died Tuesday of emphysema and coronary heart illness. She was 89.

Born Annabelle Allan Brief on July 25, 1930 in London, Ross was the daughter of Scottish vaudevillians, and already had expertise singing, performing and with life on the street by age 4, when her household moved to America.
