Westerns and horror-film actor John Saxon, a Brooklyn native and star within the unique “A Nightmare on Elm Road,” died Saturday, Deadline reported. He was 83.
Saxon’s profession included roles in some 200 movies, and spanned greater than 60 years.
His passing was introduced by his spouse, who stated he died from pneumonia in his house in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Saxon was born Carmine Orrico in Brooklyn in 1935. He studied with famed performing coach Stella Adler, and shortly after modified his title as a part of a Common Studios contract, Deadline stated.
His abilities in judo and karate led to his casting within the Bruce Lee basic “Enter the Dragon.” He starred in Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Road” in 1984, taking part in the heroine’s father.
Married thrice, he’s survived by one son.
